Ramblings of the Sleep Deprived ...

Somehow, we managed to stay awake on Stockholm time today. It helps that it's nearly 9pm and the sun is still higher in the sky than an NJ noon.

We did a 2 hour HoHo tour to get an overview of the city and plan our day tomorrow - stay tuned.

More on our neighborhood - the downtown area across from the Imperial Palace ( known as Norrmalm) was developed in the 19th century and torn down in the 1960's to make way for business highrise buildings. It didn't work out ...

It turns out that AtSix, our hotel, was the anchor for a recent redevelopment that sparked a renaissance - there are more cranes than sea gulls now - with stores, restaurants and great crowds.

We ate at the hotel's sidewalk wine bar tonight, because well, a great pinot noir and chardonnay will help us sleep.

We took a walk after dinner and discovered that among the recent refugees that Sweden took in were cattle rustlers. This car was literally covered in cow hide.

The Stockholm Opera house was the perfect backdrop for Elsie, as we have reservations at the Opera Bar tomorrow night.

"Table for 50, sir? But of course!"

  1. The photos of you two at the cafe look like they belong in the hotel brochure! FoodMag look.

  2. Thanks, Denny. We love hearing from you guys. This city is storybook beautiful. Just gritty enough to feel real, rather than like a Hollywood-- no, DISNEY -- set. Looking forward to another day of exploring as soon as everyone wakes up. (4:30 AM, you haven't even gone to bed last night yet, and I've just awakened ened from good night's sleep.
